Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs is a very well known fashion figure, sometimes considered over the top and very controversial. He worked for a few fashion houses before starting his own brand. Let’s talk a little more in depth about his personal life and career. Also, I should let you know, Marc Jacobs is one of my favorite designers along with a few more, which I will make sure to write an article about as well.

He was born on the 9th of April 1963, in New Jersey. He had what you would call a rocky childhood, with his father dying and his mother starting living a life of power dating with a bunch of failed marriages after her husband died. After moving from New Jersey to Long Island and later to the Bronx, he moved in with his grandmother. They grew a really close relationship thanks to her love for aesthetically beautiful things and her encouraging and appreciative comments on his creative work. “No one ever said ‘no’ to me about anything,” he said. “No one ever told me anything was wrong. Never. No one ever said, ‘You can’t be a fashion designer.’ No one ever said, ‘You’re a boy and you can’t take tap-dancing lessons.’ No one ever said, ‘You’re a boy and you can’t have long hair.’ No one ever said, ‘You can’t go out at night because you’re 15 and 15-year-olds don’t go to nightclubs.’ No one said it was wrong to be gay or right to be straight.”

Even with all this freedom, at 15, he never strayed away from his studies at the High School of Design and Art. He used to work at an upscale boutique called Charivari after school where he met designer Perry Ellis who became his mentor. He was allowed to design sweaters for the shop by the boutique’s staff after finishing his tasks. This helped him secure a spot at the Parsons School of Design.

In 1984, he designed the Sketchbook label for the clothing manufacturer Reuben Thomas, Inc. That same year, with help from the company’s executive Robert Duffy, he launched his own line, Jacobs Duffy Designs Inc. Jacobs, which helped him secure enough financial backing to start his own label. He became the youngest designer to win the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent (1987)—one of the industry’s highest honours.

In 1993 he founded his namesake fashion house and after being signed as creative director for Louis Vuitton, he got the funding he needed to open his first of the many boutiques to come. He later stepped down from Louis Vuitton, in 2013, but his brand is still as strong as ever. He recently launched a new, more accessible line, called Heaven by Marc Jacobs. I highly suggest you check it out.

Hope you enjoyed, I know I haven’t posted in a while, I have been really busy, but I will make sure to upload as often as possible. Have a great day,

Monthly Faves

Monthly Faves

Monthly Faves

I am going to start doing monthly favorites. There are going to be 5 categories: clothes; shoes; bags; jewelry and brands. I am also going to try and keep up a posting schedule where I will be posting twice a week. Now let’s get to business.

    1. Clothes- This month I have been obsessed with huge T-shirts, I have a few from the men collection, but I wear them almost everyday. There are so many ways to style them, it’s impressing.

    2. Shoes- Heels have been on my wish list this month. I have heels, don’t get me wrong, but I want a pair that I can wear to parties and stuff. I saw some really pretty ones on Asos.

    3. Bags- Since I discovered Kurt Geiger (I will have a post about him go up soon, so keep an eye on that) I am really into small bags. Not like those really, really small Jacquemus bags. Reasonable, phone fitting small bags.

    4. Jewelry- Gold jewelry is what I have been wearing all month. I think it’s stunning and it makes you look more put together. But don’t use a lot of it cause then it will look cheap. It has to be jus the right amount of jewelry.

    5. Brands- As you can probably tell by my last posts, I fell in love with The Kooples, a French brand. If you wanna know 20more about it, check my other post.

That was all for today, hope you are having a great day.

3 youtube channels if your interested in learning fashion

3 youtube channels if your interested in learning fashion

Hi, guys. Today I am going to talk about 3 of what I think are the best youtube channels for studying and understanding fashion.

  1. First of all we have HauteLeMode. This channel is more about discussing and rating fashion runway looks, celebrity looks and red carpet looks. Luke, the creator of this channel, also has a podcast with one of his friends. The podcast is called Fashion Victims. You should really check them both out. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoEj4uRzynPXEEegNqMnJVw
  2. Zoe Hong talks about everything you need to know before becoming a fashion designer. Her videos are really helpful and interesting. I really recommend it. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMQ_mPIBPi4IMpYEmuyOMqQ
  3. School of style is an actual styling and fashion school, that you have to pay for. But they have a youtube channel where they have great tips, information and famous stylist interviews. It’s very interesting. https://www.youtube.com/user/SchoolofStyleTV

Fashion week outfits

I’ve been scrolling on Pinterest for some outfit ideas when I stumbled apon some fashion week outfits, so I thought that I could write a blog post about it. So I searched for more fashion week outfits and I chose the ones I liked most and the ones that I would like to try.

1.

I really liked the casualness of this outfit and how it still looks more or less sophisticated.

2.

The colours here are just so pretty and i think the contrast with the yellow looks really good. The only thing I don’t really like are the shoes. I don’t know why, they’re just not my style, I guess.

3.

I LOVE the dress/skirt she is using. The combination of textures looks great and I am in love with her bag. The Dior saddle bag is one of my favorite bags ever.

4.

I absolutley adore the boots and the coat she is using. I can’t really tell what she is wearing under the coat, but from what I can see it looks really good.

5.

The mint green is so lovely, I love the berret on her head and the pants are pretty.

6.

This type of pants is really growing on me. They just look really good with T-shirts and boots or with a lace top and heels. They’re very versatile and can be worn for any ocassion.

7.

I love everything with a belt on the waist, and this outfit is so well accesoriced.

Hope you enjoyed my post. If you did leave a like and consider following for more fashion content. If you have any sugestions for more posts, leave a comment.

My favorite backpacks

I’ve had an passion for bags and shoes for almost 4 years. And I’ve started collecting them 3 years ago. Today I am going to show you and review my two absolute favorite backpacks.

Chanel Graffiti backpack

I got this backpack from my aunt as a gift, I think 4 years ago. I’ve been using it a LOT since I got it. I absolutely love it. It fits a ton of stuff and it’s a great travel bag. You can also wear it with so many things. I would 100% recommend it.

I am not sure how much it costs, also because it’s pretty old.

Longchamp le pliage nylon backpack

I got this backpack in an airport in Munchen. I always wanted a Longhamp bag, but then i decided I would get more use out of the backpack. I believe this is the new collection. I don’t have it for a long time, I have it since December 2019. But I have used it literally everyday since. It looks kinda small, but it actually fits a ton of stuff. Also the material is really resistant to rain and dirt.

I paid around 85 euros for it. It’s worth every penny.

Let me know what your favorite bag is in the comment section. Have a great day!

Season accessories

Since I did a 2020 trends post, I thought I’d do one about the accessories. So here it is:

Square toe shoes

Balenciaga

Square toe shoes have been a “thing” since 2019, but apparently it will go on in 2020.

Big hoop earrings

Versace

Hoop earrings are one of my favorite accessories. They are so pretty and a little bit edgy. I love them.

Platforms

Dolce and Gabbana

As a pretty short person, I can say platforms are a real life savior. I wear them every chance I get.

Necklace bags

Versace

I don’t really know what to call these and I also don’t really know what you would use them for, but they are pretty cute.

LVMH decides to buy Tiffany in $16 billion deal

In a call Monday, LVMH Chief Financial Officer Jean-Jacques Guiony described the deal as a “game-changer” for the conglomerate’s watches & jewellery segment, batting away concerns over Tiffany’s near-term performance.

“We strongly believe that LVMH is not only an ideal owner for Tiffany but also that this iconic brand is a perfect addition to our portfolio and perfect complement to our existing model,” Guiony said.

10 items in your wardrobe that might have to go in 2020

Here are 10 items that I read and heard that you might have to get rid of in 2020.

  1. Very high heels will probably be switched out for lower and trendier footwear.
  2. Cold shoulder tops
  3. Skinny jeans you will see more loose type jeans in 2020.
  4. Chunky “dad” shoes is one of the things that I will miss.
  5. Mustard designers will swap out the condiment-inspired color for lighter and more saturated saffron shades.
  6. The neon trend will probably fade to black.
  7. Ripped jeans are on the way out.
  8. Patterned leggings will soon be a fashion faux pas.
  9. Pajama-like looks will probably be replaced with more comfortable, polished ensembles.
  10. Bike shorts will not be seen outside of the gym.
