how to stay informed on the fashion world

Hi guys. Today I am hoping I can help you find a way to always know what is happening in the fashion world. I know I was struggling before, because I wanted to be up to date with all the fashion news and gossip and I didn’t know how. So I started researching and I am going to share what I found with you. Let’s go:

  1. First, this one is pretty easy, you can check some fashion websites like Fashionista, i-D, Vogue, Vogue Runway and Models.com. Or you could watch Vogue, i-D, BOF and The FF channel on youtube.

  2. Now, this one isn’t really about fashion news, but I think it’s fun and it kind of helps if you want to discover new things. Go on Pinterest and search runway shows or anything you are interested in and start pinning them into a board. After you added them to your board, look if you know who designed that one dress, or who painted that painting and so on. If you find out, you can search him/her up and maybe find more things you like. Keep saving every picture you see, on Instagram, on Twitter, on Google, it doesn’t matter, save them on Pinterest and then you can also categorize them. Later on, if you want to go on to study fashion design you can use these photos as part of your mood boards.

  3. This one really helped me. On Instagram, create a new account, name it whatever you want, but you don’t have to post anything on it. Then, follow all the fashion magazines out there, stylists, designeres, models, editors, brands, etc. This way, when you go on this account you will only get fashion information without it being interrupted by your friend vacation posts or whatever.

  4. Last but not least, podcasts. There are a lot of great podcasts on Spotify. I will make a different post only talking about them, since there is a lot to talk about.

Hope this is helpful, I use these every day and they’ve helped me a bunch. Have a great day,

3 ways you can help save the planet: fashion edition

Hi guys, happy new year! Since 2020 finished I thought we can leave all the negative stuff behind and focus on what we can do better this year. I will share some ways you can help save the planet, fashion edition. Let’s start:

  1. First, this one applies for any type of shopping, whenever you go to the mall or to a shop, always bring a tote bag or a fabric bag where you can put all of your new items. This way you don’t need a plastic bag and you reduce plastic pollution.

  2. Another way to help, is to stop buying fast fashion. Fast fashion is really bad for the environment because the items are low quality so they don’t last long, they are cheap which means someone is being exploited for those items and they are usually based on trends which means that people tend to throw them away when a new trend comes along. Now, I am guilty of this, but lately I have been trying to raise money so I can invest in sustainable, good quality, long lasting pieces. Some examples of fast fashion are: H&M, Zara, Stradivarius, BooHoo,etc. I have a few posts about great brands you should check out if you want good quality and long lasting pieces.

  3. This last one is the most fun.Thrifting. I know a lot of people are repulsed by the idea, but I am telling you, thrifting is wonderful. You can find one of a kind pieces for really low prices. It’s not only fun and satisfying, but also really great for the planet. So if you don’t want to pay a lot of money on sustainable brands, you can go thrifting. Also, if you are more interested in luxury pieces there are tons of preloved websites. One of my favorites is Vestiaire Collective.

I hope this inspired you to make a change. If all of us change just a small part of our lifestyle, we can save the planet we all love and live on. Have a great day,

                                                                                   XOXO, Delayla

Style on a budget

Hi guys, let’s talk style on a budget. I want to make this clear, style has nothing to do with how rich or poor you are. You could be the richest person on the planet and have no style and you could be struggling with money, but still have a great style. Now that we got this out of the way, let’s go.

  – First of all, in my opinion, whatever your style is, you should have a few basic pieces. Like a pair of good quality jeans, a white and a black T-shirt, a dress, a jean jacket and a leather jacket. With these pieces you can put together a bunch of outfits without having to spend a lot of money. For these basics I suggest shopping at Zara and/or H&M. They have good quality clothes at accessible prices.

  – Now, you should find a few pieces that are a must have for your style, For example, if your style is classy and elegant, you should buy a white button-up, a pair of suit pants and an elegant overcoat. If your style is more grungy, you should get a pair of combat boots, some chain necklaces, a graphic Tee and maybe fishnets. Having these pieces help integrate your style with the basics you already have. You can also either buy these at Zara and H&M, but if you want them a little bit cheaper, you can find them at Pull and Bear, Bershka and Stradivarius.

  – Lastly, you can go searching for other things you think might pull the looks together or something you really love. Pretty much, after you have all the basics we just talked about, you can get pieces you love and feel like they might bring a more personal touch to your outfits. These pieces you can buy from wherever you find them. I mean you could find this beautiful belt that matches your style and your budget in a small boutique. These personal touches should be something you connect with. It doesn’t really matter where it’s from.

Hope this post was useful, I would love it if you let me know some other topics you would like me to write about. Have a great day,

                                                                                           XOXO,Delayla

Ways to learn a language faster

I speak 4 languages fluently, and I know sometimes it’s hard to learn a new language. So here are some tips:

  1. Try and surround yourself with people that speak that language.
  2. When you watch a movie and you can add subtitles, choose the subtitles in the language you are trying to learn.
  3. Listen to music in that language.
  4. Reading is probably the hardest, but if you already know more or less the language, reading could really help you with vocabulary and expressions.
  5. Find someone to talk to that can also correct you if you pronounced something wrong.

If you know any other tips leave them in the comment section and don’t forget to leave a like.

How to stay positive during a injury

Since I can remember I always danced. Ballet has always been an important part of my life, even though I’ve had my ups and downs. But these last two years have been the most challenging because of my injury. Maybe I’ll do a little storytime later this week, but for now I will just share with you some tips for when you are feeling down because of any kind of injury.

  1. First of all, you need to understand that healing takes time and usually there isn’t a lot you can do about it. You just have to be patient and give it some time.
  2. Also you should find a hobby or something to take your mind off of the injury. For example I am dedicating my free time to studying and writing this blog.
  3. Another thing that really helps is talking to someone about what’s on your mind.
  4. Do not think about all the bad things that can happen. Only think about the good things that happened and will happen.
