Hello guys, today I want to talk abut one of my favorite designers. I followed him on Instagram a while ago, but I have become a really big fan recently. So I will ‘present’ him to you.
Alexander Wang is an American designer born on the 26th of December 1983, in San Francisco, California to a Taiwanese house hold, but he has confirmed that he cannot speak Mandarin Chinese. He did a summer course at Central Saint Martins when he was 15 and moved to New York to study at the Parsons School of Design, but he left the program after two years, without graduating, so that he can start his brand.
He started his fashion brand in 2005 and became more popular after he won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2008.
He worked as Creative director at Balenciaga from 2012 to 2015.
In 2014, he collabed with the Swedish brand H&M to create a collection for both men and women.
In 2016 he became CEO of the Wang brand succeeding his mom Ying Wang and his sister-in-law Aimee Wang. Later that year he was awarded $90 milion in damages after successfully suing 45 defendants running 459 websites that sold counterfeit goods bearing his name.
Wang has hosted a 2016 New York Fashion Week show.
In 2018, Wang partnered with Trojan to release a limited edition “Protect your Wang” capsule collection in support of the LBGTQ community and to celebrate Pride.
Hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, suggest me some other designers to talk about. Have a great day,
Hii guys! So, as I mentioned in my last post, I am doing lesser known designers posts, so that you get to discover knew things that you might actually enjoy.
Today we are talking about Kurt Geiger, an English brand that I discovered while I was searching for my knew purchase. He has some absolutely stunning bags and shoes that are certainly on my wishlist. I will put some of the links below so you can also check them out.
Kurt Geiger was founded in 1963 and was named after its Austrian founder. He opened his first ever store in London and it has been based there ever since. The recent creative director is called Rebecca Farrar-Hockley. You can find it in department stores such as Harrods and Selfridges, but also online at www.kurtgeiger.com .
Hope you have a beautiful day, and let me know what you think about this week’s designer.
I am going to start doing monthly favorites. There are going to be 5 categories: clothes; shoes; bags; jewelry and brands. I am also going to try and keep up a posting schedule where I will be posting twice a week. Now let’s get to business.
1. Clothes- This month I have been obsessed with huge T-shirts, I have a few from the men collection, but I wear them almost everyday. There are so many ways to style them, it’s impressing.
2. Shoes- Heels have been on my wish list this month. I have heels, don’t get me wrong, but I want a pair that I can wear to parties and stuff. I saw some really pretty ones on Asos.
3. Bags- Since I discovered Kurt Geiger (I will have a post about him go up soon, so keep an eye on that) I am really into small bags. Not like those really, really smallJacquemus bags. Reasonable, phone fitting small bags.
4. Jewelry- Gold jewelry is what I have been wearing all month. I think it’s stunning and it makes you look more put together. But don’t use a lot of it cause then it will look cheap. It has to be jus the right amount of jewelry.
5. Brands- As you can probably tell by my last posts, I fell in love with The Kooples, a French brand. If you wanna know 20more about it, check my other post.
That was all for today, hope you are having a great day.
Today, in the lesser known designer series, we have Charles&Keith. I stumbled upon them on my explore page on instagram and I was very intrigued by their designs. This brand has a lot of trendy accessories and footwear. They also have really accessible prices. In the beginning I fell in love with their bags, but after I discovered the shoes and other accessories, I realized everything they sell is absolutely beautiful.
Now, let’s talk about its past. Charles&Keith is a Singaporean brand, also based in Singapore. It was launched in 1996 by the Wong brothers, Charles and Keith. They used to work in their parents’ shoe shop, called ‘Ang Mo Kio’. Charles is the Founder, while Keith is Founder and Chief Executive. Teir executive director is Fong Shee Beng.
I see a lot of people on Instagram talking about Designer and Luxury items so i decided to talk a little bit about it, even though I don’t own a lot of designer stuff and I didn’t buy most of them with my own money, since I am a minor. But since fashion and designer items are something I am very passionate about, I will give my opinion on them.
So, I obviously love designer goods, but I am also aware that they cost a lot of money. And I also know a lot of women wish to look expensive and classy. In my opinion you don’t need to buy very expensive things to look ‘expensive’.
I find that high street shops have very good quality clothes and for a very good price. Some examples would be Zara(one of my recent favourites), Mango, H&M, Stradivarius etc.
Where I am trying to go with this is that you can look your best in High street clothes and invest in some designer accessories to improve your look, but I don’t think having designer clothes means you look good or ‘expensive’. I believe what makes a good outfit is the way you style it and accessorise it, not how much you paid for the outfit.
Hope you have a great day. Also this is just my personal opinion and I am not trying to upset anyone.
Since the year is almost ending, I think it’s only appropriate to be prepared for the new year with the upcoming trends.
As I didn’t go to any of the fashion weeks, I watched them online. Here are some of the trends of 2020:
Suits and blazers
You are definitely going to see a lot of suits and blazers in 2020. Most of the big fashion houses presented at least one suit or blazer in their runway shows. I think they are absolutely gorgeous and they are very versatile, because you can use for almost any occasion.
Dolce and Gabbana,Versace
The tropical prints have also been all over the fashion runways. It’s so summery and fun, I think it’s a great trend. The colours are so vibrant and it seems as if they make you happy by looking at them.
Chanel,Louis Vuitton,Tory Burch
Puffed sleeves are such a great detail for shirts, they change the whole dynamic of the outfit. They are one of the trends I am looking most forward to.
The neons are making a comeback, and I couldn’t be happier about it. The power of neon colours is so strong and their such a statement piece.
Sequins were everywhere in the fashion weeks. They are such a cool trend and also they can mix with almost everything. Not really my favourite only because I find them a little bit to out there for me, but I do enjoy them on other people.
In a call Monday, LVMH Chief Financial Officer Jean-Jacques Guiony described the deal as a “game-changer” for the conglomerate’s watches & jewellery segment, batting away concerns over Tiffany’s near-term performance.
“We strongly believe that LVMH is not only an ideal owner for Tiffany but also that this iconic brand is a perfect addition to our portfolio and perfect complement to our existing model,” Guiony said.
